Whither Wikileaks?
Wikileaks, the cash-strapped activists who’ve made their mark on the world with grandiose promises, blatant propaganda, and harsh rhetoric, suspended their site last month as a sort of fund-raising effort, claiming to need $200,000 USD to continue operations for the next year. The return of the site was forecast for 6 Jan, then 11 January.
It’s now 13 January 2010, and the site still isn’t back. Why? Nobody’s talking. They’ll still happily take your money – having only raised a quarter or so of what they claim to need – and will happily take your “leaks”, but for now, and for the immediate future, their operations appear to consist entirely of repetitive rumour-mongering on Twitter.
Ah, the free market at work. Gotta love it.
