A new post over at the Homeland Security Digital Library weblog points to a new report on securing the bomb – the bomb, as in nuclear – under the fear-inducing title “Nuclear Threat Just a Bomb Away, According to New Report.”
While this is certainly nothing new – the “nuclear threat” is, and has long been, “just a bomb away” – I am, at least, pleased to see that the report, from the Nuclear Threat Initiative, manages to abstain from some of the politically-convenient and completely baseless fearmongering certain other nonproliferation parties engage in. It may waffle a bit in a few places, and accepts unchallenged a number of unverifiable government claims, but it’s generally well-sourced, and refrains, as far as I can tell, from making stuff up, which is always a good sign.
