Iraq and al Qaeda

An interesting recent CRS report obtained by Secrecy News is Iraq and al Qaeda, a pretty meticulously researched examination of the administration claims about involvement between the two. Definitely worth a look, as are most CRS reports, as it’s probably the best, least biased examination available of the connection, such as it is, between bin Laden’s al Qaeda and the folks most recently calling themselves the “Al Qaeda Jihad Organization in the Land of Two Rivers”, better known as “Al Qaeda in Iraq”.

The Alien USB DAC

I spend a lot of time listening to headphones, whether it be MP3s on the computer, FM or shortwave radio, or even the very occasional computer game. I’m far from being an audiophile, let alone the sort of more-power, bigger-is-better idiot who buys kilowatt subwoofer amplifiers and things of that sort. That said, like a lot of others, I discovered long ago that many audio sources leave a lot to be desired, in one way or another. Computers, alas, are no exception.

Idle Thought of the Day

With the polar ice caps melting away as they are, and the level of the sea rising, at what point do we revise the elevation “above mean sea level” of, well, everything? And, do Republicans, who don’t “accept” the existence of global warming, insist that the seas are not rising, but the continents are in fact sinking? Inquiring minds want to know…
