Cinequest 17 Awards

They’ve finally put the various winning films of Cinequest 17 online tonight, (Adobe PDF file) a full day after they were announced. Way to get with the “new media”, guys. 🙂

Urban Explorers: Into the Darkness didn’t win any awards, but, hey, it got shown, unlike most of the 1,750 entries to the festival.

A reminder – the film makes it’s Minnesota premiere this Friday night at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis. Tickets are still available, but are expected to sell out, so don’t procrastinate. You snooze, you lose…

The Big Picture

AdoramaPix, the photo-lab side of NYC photo giant Adorama, are now offering big prints from digital files – thru 24×36 inches (yes, two by three feet). Better yet, they’re having a sale on these “jumbo-sized” prints, thru the end of the month. 16×24 prints for $4.99 each; 20×24 or 20×30 for $9.99, and $19.99 for prints. No coupon code required.

If you’ve got a high-megapixel camera and like big prints (admit it, it really is the size that counts, right?), don’t miss this sale.

It’s worth noting these jumbo prints are apparently only offered on Kodak’s pro-quality Endura paper, which is only available in a lightly textured semigloss “luster” finish.

Whither Cinequest

It’s been almost a full day since the 17th annual Cinequest film festival in San Jose, California came to an end with it’s $50-per-person closing party and awards ceremony. Yet, right now, the only people who know what films won any awards were there at the time. There’s no announcement on their website; no local news sites have any mention of it online; there’s not even an Associated Press story on the wire about it. Zip. Zilch. Nada. Nothing.
