Whoops…

Always embarassing when a government computer gets compromised. :D

Fake Caller ID?

Is it possible to fake the number that shows up on a callee’s Caller ID screen? I get a fair number of crank calls, and hang-ups, and wrong numbers… but I just got a hang-up from, I kid you not, “(000) 001-2345″. No idea what that’s all about…

Urban Invaders? Hah!

A surprisingly decent piece in the Star Tribune today on Urban Exploration in the Twin Cities area. Truth be told, it’s just the exact same story they, and other, papers have run several times in the past -quotes from a couple explorers, a police spokesperson, and Professor Greg Brick, some mostly-accurate reporting, and a photo or two. Hey, it’s one of Max Action’s rare media appearances; you can also see him, I’m told, in Melody Gilbert’s upcoming Urban Exploration documentary Into the Light, in all his scruffy glory. Well worth $15, if you’re an Action Squad groupie. :)

Inevitable “what if?” questions and moral grey areas aside, Max gets it right, about the “take only pictures, leave only footprints” thing. That, really, is what UE is about, not leaving big fucking holes blown in doors, or stealing stuff, or damaging and causing vandalism to places.

Rumours Abound

Rumors abound about the three idiots who were caught trying to blow up a door in a utility tunnel beneath downtown Saint Paul, Minnesota last week. Given little media coverage because charges have yet to be filed against them, that’s expected to change early next week, perhaps as soon as Monday, when city attorneys announce their decision to prosecute the three.

Getting a jump on the competition, the Minneapolis Star Tribune is said to be working on a predictably awful expose of Urban Exploration, what it isn’t and what it isn’t, in tomorrow’s paper. Gotta give them an “A” for effort, anyway. Rumor has it the grandiose, creative ideas hatched by the paper had to be scaled back after the lawyers stepped in with their silly concerns about liability… damn lawyers.
