Who, exactly, is Rene Fortesque-Spencer-French, you ask? Why, merely England’s greatest culinary artist, of course, best remembered, for, frankly, force-feeding fois gras to Linda McCartney. (Or maybe the thing with the… or the time she… or the “tripe incident.” Well, it’s not really important, now, is it?) Dearly departed, or so they’d like us to believe, she’s tenderly eulogized in a a moving obituary as part of BBC Radio 4’s Peacefully in Their Sleeps, a quite entertaining new comedy program.
