Is there any legitimate content left on Blogspot?

Just a sort of rhetorical, therapeutically-venting question: Is there any legitimate content left on Blogspot anymore? It seems like every time you search the blogosphere on just about any subject, a quarter to more than half of results are Blogspot splogs.

Blogspot and Google have been criticized in the past for other unresolved problems, and I think it would really be great if Google could do something about their splog problem, as well. It doesn’t benefit users any, and I fail to see how it can benefit Google in any way, shape, or form. WordPress.com has been pretty good about identifying, and removing, splogs; Google seems to not care.

None of the other blog search engines are a lot better. What I really, really want is a blog search that can readily let me exclude Blogger, Blogspot, and all the “social networking” sites from the search results; the only things I find on Xanga, LiveJournal, and so on worth reading are written be people I know. It’s not a matter of avoiding splogs, it’s avoiding the “omg stfu lol” kiddies and the meaningless two-sentance personal rants.

As a far-distant second wish, I’d like a blog search engine that indexed blogs only. More and more forums seem to be getting their threads syndicated in “blog” searches, and it’s starting to get irritating.
